J1st ISFLC, patronized by University of Jeddah President, set for Feb 4-7, 2024

Jeddah, January 21, 2024, The Jeddah First International Systemic Functional Linguistics Conference (J1st ISFLC) is scheduled to take place online from February 4 to 7, 2024, with the patronage of University of Jeddah President Dr. Adnan Al-Humaidan.

Themed "Language and Multimedia," the conference, organized by the College of Languages and Translation, aims to explore the interconnection between language, multimedia, and multimodal communication in diverse social and cultural contexts. The overarching goal is to advance linguistic research, play a significant role in community development, and contribute to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The conference will encompass several key sub-themes, including the semiotic and social characteristics of discourse, language and multimedia in social and mass media, and language and communication in audiovisual translation.

Dr. Nouf Al-Khatabi, the Dean of the College of Languages and Translation, shared that researchers and experts from approximately 12 countries are expected to participate. The conference will feature analyses of language and communication features in different contexts and across cultures, as well as workshops, lectures, scientific sessions, scholarly interviews, and individual and group research presentations. The format will also allow for discussions and the exchange of ideas.
