Tokyo, April 1, 2025 – Japan's Nikkei index closed near an eight-month low today, continuing its steep decline amid market volatility. The Nikkei dropped 4.05% to 35,617.56, marking its lowest closing level since August 6. This decline came just one day after the index saw its biggest daily drop since the 1987 Black Monday crash. The broader TOPIX index also faced significant losses, falling 3.5% to 2,658.73. The Nikkei's recent performance reflects its largest daily drop since September 30.
