Riyadh, April 24, 2024, The Joint Incidents Assessment Team (JIAT) has issued a statement addressing an allegation involving Coalition Forces targeting a civilian house in the Al-Jirahi directorate of Al-Hudaydah governorate on December 1, 2021. The statement, released today, outlines the findings of JIAT's investigation into this claim.
The statement references information received by JIAT indicating that on December 1, 2021, one man and two children were injured in a strike that reportedly hit a civilian house in the specified location. However, no specific coordination for the claimed civilian house was provided.
JIAT conducted a thorough vetting of the incident, examining various documents and evidence, including air tasking orders, daily mission schedules, mission execution procedures, after-mission reports, satellite images, Coalition Forces rules of engagement, and principles of International Humanitarian Law.
After a detailed assessment of the evidence, JIAT determined that the Al-Jirahi directorate is situated in the southern part of the Al-Hudaydah governorate. Reviewing the air missions carried out by Coalition Forces on December 1, 2021, the date of the claim, JIAT found that no air missions were conducted on the entirety of the Al-Hudaydah governorate on that day.
Additionally, examining the daily mission schedules from the day before and after the claimed date revealed that no air missions were carried out on Al-Hudaydah governorate on November 30, 2021, and December 2, 2021.
Based on these findings, JIAT concluded that Coalition Forces are not responsible for targeting a civilian house in the Al-Jirahi directorate of the Al-Hudaydah governorate on December 1, 2021, as alleged.
