Riyadh, April 18, 2024, American golfer John Catlin continued to lead the Saudi Open Golf Tournament 2024, sponsored by the Public Investment Fund and running until April 20 at the Riyadh Golf Club. Catlin demonstrated exceptional skill, securing top shots to qualify for the finals. Chinese DP World Tour member Haotong Li and Australia's Scott Hend capitalized on favorable morning conditions, delivering standout performances that positioned them closely behind Catlin in the overall standings after the tournament's second day.
Saudi golfer Khalid Attieh came close to making history as the first Saudi player to qualify for the finals alongside the top 66 players since the tournament's elevation to the Asian Tour. However, his luck ran out after scoring three over par in the last nine holes, preventing him from advancing to the final rounds.
Moroccan golfers Ayoub Lguirati and Othman Raouzi, both recipients of special invites to the tournament through Golf Saudi’s partnership with the Arab Golf Federation, concluded their rounds on one-under-par and even par respectively, securing their spots to continue their participation.
