Under the leadership of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit convened a significant meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, at the UN Headquarters in New York City on November 29, 2023. The committee, including representatives from Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Türkiye, Indonesia, the League of Arab States, Malaysia, and the UAE, discussed the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip. Topics ranged from the achievements of the humanitarian truce, including the release of prisoners, to ongoing efforts for an immediate ceasefire. The committee stressed the international community's responsibility in protecting civilians and upholding international law. Crucially, the meeting emphasized the implementation of UN resolutions safeguarding the security of the Palestinian people from violations by Israeli occupation forces. The committee reiterated its call for a return to the path of peace by implementing international resolutions related to a two-state solution. They highlighted the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on the borders of June 4, 1967. The committee members underscored the urgency for the international community to secure relief corridors for delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. They categorically rejected all forms of blatant settlement and forced displacement of the Palestinian people. The meeting exemplified the committee's commitment to addressing critical humanitarian and peace challenges in the region.
