Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen: Two Martyrs and One Injured from the Saudi Forces in Yemen in a Treacherous Cowardly Assault

The Coalition has repatriated the martyrs and injured officer to Saudi Arabia, and is working with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrator to justice.
On November 8, 2024, a cowardly attack on the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen’s camp in Seiyun City resulted in the martyrdom of two personnel and the injury of another, carried out by an individual affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense.

Riyadh, November 10, 2024 – A statement was issued by Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, regarding a tragic and malicious attack that occurred on the evening of Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Coalition’s forces’ camp in Seiyun City, Yemen. The assault, which targeted members of the Coalition Forces during their regular exercises, resulted in the martyrdom of two personnel and the injury of another.

The statement revealed that the attack was carried out by an individual affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, a member who betrayed the trust of his comrades and launched a cowardly assault against those who have been providing critical support and training to the First Military Region forces. These Coalition forces have been instrumental in combating terrorism, fighting smuggling operations, and supporting the humanitarian and developmental initiatives in Yemen, especially in Seiyun City. The Coalition has also been engaged in efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, offering a vital lifeline in the country’s ongoing recovery and stability.

In addressing this horrific act, Brigadier General Al-Malki emphasized that the attack does not reflect the values or honor of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense or its members, many of whom have repeatedly acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the Coalition’s support. The spokesperson reiterated that this act of violence was a "Lone Wolf" attack, carried out by an individual whose actions were not condoned or supported by the Ministry, which has long recognized the critical role played by the Coalition forces in stabilizing Yemen and assisting with humanitarian relief efforts.

Following the attack, the two martyrs and the injured officer were swiftly repatriated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where they are being provided with the necessary support. The Joint Forces Command has emphasized that it is actively collaborating with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, with the aim of identifying the motives behind the attack and bringing the responsible individual to justice.

In the statement, the Joint Forces Command extended its deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the fallen soldiers, praising their sacrifice and expressing hope for the swift recovery of the injured officer. The Coalition reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting Yemen’s recovery and stability, continuing its mission to fight terrorism, combat smuggling, and assist in the humanitarian efforts that are crucial to the well-being of the Yemeni people.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen remains resolute in its mission, despite this attack, and vows to continue working alongside the Yemeni Ministry of Defense to ensure that justice is served and the safety of its forces is upheld.
