Nouakchott, October 14, 2024 – Saudi Ambassador to Mauritania, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Raqabi, officially inaugurated the Jusoor Exhibition on Sunday. The exhibition is being held alongside the first edition of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. This event, which will take place from October 15 to 18, is organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Original Education of Mauritania. The inauguration was also attended by Mauritanian Minister of Islamic Affairs and Original Education, Sidi Yahya Ould Cheikhna Ould Lemrabet.
The Jusoor Exhibition showcases more than 12 interactive sections, each designed to offer a comprehensive cultural experience. Highlights of the exhibition include the Holy Quran section, where visitors can engage with the text of the Quran, and the Saudi attire experience section, where traditional Saudi clothing is on display. The mosques and Two Holy Mosques section highlights Saudi Arabia’s dedication to the upkeep and development of Islam’s holiest sites. Additional sections include an Arabic calligraphy section, a technology section that presents modern advancements in serving Islamic teachings, and a hospitality section that offers visitors a taste of Saudi Arabian generosity and tradition. A special children’s section provides engaging activities for younger visitors. Central to the exhibition is a large electronic screen that continuously showcases Saudi Arabia's various roles and efforts in serving Islam and the global Muslim community.
These sections reflect the Kingdom's vast cultural, scientific, sharia, and linguistic contributions to the Islamic world. A detailed presentation also highlights the historical developments and initiatives the Kingdom has undertaken to preserve and promote the Holy Quran, the Sunnah, and other Islamic traditions.
The Jusoor Exhibition aims to strengthen ties between Africa and Saudi Arabia, fostering closer collaboration between the Kingdom and African nations. By highlighting the wide range of services provided by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the exhibition also seeks to enhance understanding of the Kingdom’s efforts to promote moderation, reject extremism, and spread the true principles of Islam.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran and the Sunnah is set to formally open on Tuesday, with preliminary rounds held from October 15 to 17, followed by the final ceremony on October 19. This competition is designed to encourage young Muslims to engage deeply with the Quran by memorizing, understanding, and reflecting upon its teachings. It promotes healthy competition among those who have committed the Quran to memory, while also reinforcing the Kingdom's dedication to spreading the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed.
This event serves as a platform to connect young Muslims with the Sunnah, encouraging them to learn and apply Islamic sciences while adhering to the principles of moderation and rejecting extremism. Through such initiatives, the Kingdom continues to demonstrate its enduring commitment to nurturing the Islamic faith and guiding future generations toward a path of peace, knowledge, and spiritual growth.
