KACST conducts 10-week cooperative training program, leads 12 research projects

Jeddah, Aug 31, 2023, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) organized a 10-week cooperative training program for 24 trainees from various universities in the Kingdom, which resulted in 12 research projects spanning various technical and scientific disciplines. The research projects were focused on the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), including integrated systems, computer vision, generative AI, human-robot interaction, and advanced robotics. In addition, the initiatives took on the challenge of developing the first robotic models and expanding technological solutions using advanced approaches and methodologies for the creation of AI models.

They also evaluated and improved the linguistic models for the AI chatbot "ChatGPT" to make them compatible with regional content and Arabic.

The training program, according to Dr. Mariam Nouh, Vice President of KACST for the Future Economies Sector, was supervised by a research team of specialists in AI and robotics technologies, and it improved the skills of both male and female students by utilizing the city's laboratories and resources.

According to Dr. Nouh, the experts gave them information in fields related to the future economy, including cyber security, smart cities, cutting-edge transportation technologies, earth and space sciences, and emerging communication and sensor technologies.
