NAJRAN — Thanks to their French captain, Karim Benzema, who helped them to a spirited 1-0 victory over their hosts, Al-Okhdood, on Thursday in the sixth round, Al-Ittihad momentarily took the top spot on the Saudi Professional League table.
After receiving a pass from Haroun Kamara and deftly slipping past Al-Okhdood's defenders, Benzema scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute. He did this by placing the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal for the home team.
Al-Ittihad moved to the top of the league standings with 15 points after securing their fifth win and only one loss of the year with this victory. Al-Okhdood's score, which stayed at four points, put them in thirteenth place.
