As the manufacturer of seven models that were rated first in their segments in the J.D. Power 2023 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study, Kia breaks the previous record for the most awards given to a single manufacturer in the study's 28-year history. These honors follow the announcement last month that Kia had won the most prizes in the J.D. Power 2023 Initial Quality Study (IQS).
Three Kia vehicles, including the all-electric Kia EV6 (most appealing compact SUV), Carnival (most appealing minivan), and K5 (most appealing midsize car), won top honors in their categories for the second consecutive year. Four Kia vehicles also won top honors in their respective categories: the Rio (the most appealing small car), the Cerato (the most appealing compact car), the Telluride (the most appealing upper midsize SUV), and the Stinger (the most appealing midsize premium car). In the 2023 J.D. Power APEAL Study, all seven vehicles were named as the most desirable for the driving experience and placed first for driver satisfaction.
The 2023 U.S. APEAL Study is based on replies from 84,555 owners of brand-new cars from the 2023 model year who were polled 90 days after purchase. Based on automobiles registered from November 2022 through February 2023, the study was conducted from February through May 2023.
