Riyadh, January 14, 2024, In 2023, the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority achieved significant environmental milestones aligned with the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Green Initiative, and the comprehensive strategic targets set for royal reserves by 2030. These accomplishments, in addition to meeting the authority's strategic goals, were made possible through the active participation of volunteers from local communities in the protection and development of the reserve's environment.
Key achievements in 2023 include the removal of over 45,000 tons of waste from the entire reserve, the planting of a million wild trees in Rawdat Al Khafs (located in the southern part of the reserve), the expansion and maintenance of vegetation cover, and the preservation of natural resources. These efforts contribute significantly to environmental sustainability and the overall health of the reserve.
The authority's commitment to environmental stewardship is further demonstrated by its progress in joining the International Union for Conservation of Nature Green List, signifying a dedication to conservation best practices.
Recognizing the authority's innovative initiatives, it received the National Award for Voluntary Work, securing first place in the "government entities" category for its "school reserve" initiative. Additionally, the first phase of protecting wells within the reserve was successfully completed, involving the installation of 1,500 concrete barriers across 28 wells.
The authority was also honored with the silver medal in the "Accountability Pioneers" program, acknowledging its efforts to achieve a complete transition to accrual-based accounting. These achievements collectively showcase the authority's commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and responsible governance.
