
RIYADH, March 29, 2025: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended their condolences on Saturday to the King of Thailand following the earthquake that struck Bangkok a day earlier, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The monarch and the crown prince conveyed their "deepest condolences and sincere sympathy" to the families of the victims and expressed their hopes for the "safe return of the missing and a swift recovery for the injured."
A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Thailand and neighboring Myanmar at midday Friday, resulting in at least 10 fatalities in Bangkok and more than 130 in Myanmar.
Authorities cautioned that the full scale of casualties and damage remained uncertain, with expectations that the toll could rise significantly.
In Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city and the earthquake’s epicenter, reports from social media and local news sources indicated widespread destruction, including the collapse of one of the city’s largest monasteries.
