King Faisal Foundation, BAE Systems Inspire Next Generation of Aviation Experts via STEM Sessions

This collaboration, which began in 2018, supports Vision 2030’s goals of economic diversification, innovation, and empowerment by building a pipeline of skilled professionals for Saudi Arabia’s growing aviation sector.
The King Faisal Foundation (KFF) and BAE Systems hosted STEM workshops at King Faisal School, introducing primary-level students to aviation and aerospace engineering, in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Riyadh, November 29, 2024 – The King Faisal Foundation (KFF), in partnership with BAE Systems, recently hosted two specialized STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) sessions at King Faisal School aimed at inspiring primary-level students to explore the dynamic world of aviation. The workshops, held in separate sessions for boys and girls, provided young learners with a unique opportunity to delve into the fundamentals of aerospace and engineering, while aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals of fostering innovation and developing a diversified, knowledge-driven economy.

The hands-on workshops, which were themed around aviation and aircraft technologies, featured a variety of engaging activities designed to captivate students’ imaginations. Students participated in model-building exercises, interactive discussions, and problem-solving challenges that mirrored real-world scenarios from the aviation industry. These activities not only introduced students to the complexities of the aviation field but also inspired them to consider pursuing careers in this critical sector, which plays a key role in the Kingdom’s economic diversification and technological advancement.

According to a press release from KFF, these sessions represent a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the foundation and BAE Systems, a partnership that began in 2018 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding. The joint initiative focuses on promoting STEM education and encouraging career exploration among Saudi youth. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030’s overarching objectives of empowering a new generation of skilled professionals, particularly in high-demand industries such as aerospace, engineering, and technology.

By introducing students to cutting-edge fields like aviation at an early age, KFF and BAE Systems are playing a pivotal role in nurturing a pipeline of talent that will be essential to supporting the Kingdom’s rapidly growing aviation sector. The workshops also underscore the importance of bridging the gap between education and industry, equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in STEM careers that are vital to the nation's future development.

The collaboration is a key part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to empower women, diversify the economy, and build a knowledge-based society. As part of their ongoing commitment to expanding this initiative, KFF and BAE Systems plan to take these STEM workshops to additional schools across the Kingdom, with the goal of inspiring thousands of young minds to pursue careers in aviation, engineering, and other STEM-related fields that will help shape Saudi Arabia’s future.

Through these initiatives, the King Faisal Foundation and BAE Systems are helping to foster a new generation of innovators who will contribute to the Kingdom’s ambitious plans for economic transformation and technological leadership.
