Rafha, August 24, 2024 – King Faisal Street, a venerable artery of Rafha Governorate, stands as a living testament to the region's rich history, extending over seven decades. Established alongside the pipeline that once transported crude oil from the Eastern Region to Europe, this historic street has witnessed the evolution of the governorate, reflecting its enduring legacy and the essence of its past.

Recently, Rafha Municipality has undertaken a series of transformative development and rehabilitation projects to rejuvenate King Faisal Street while preserving its historical charm. These significant improvements include extending the street by 1,270 meters and widening it by 21 meters. The comprehensive renovation has encompassed re-paving, the installation of new sidewalks, enhanced lighting, and the beautification of the median strip with trees and additional lighting.

One of the most striking aspects of the renovation is the unification of the old-style shop facades and shop identification signs. This effort aims to harmonize the street's visual appeal while retaining its historical authenticity. The newly renovated street now presents a unified aesthetic that enhances the area’s character and contributes to the overall improvement of the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

As you stroll down King Faisal Street, it feels as though you are transported back in time to over 70 years ago. The street’s old-world charm is captured by the numerous shops that line both sides, their facades and signage evoking the historic essence of Rafha. This blend of antiquity and modernity creates an artistic tableau that celebrates the governorate's storied past. Despite the passage of time, King Faisal Street continues to attract a large number of visitors, drawn by its historical significance, timeless character, and enduring authenticity.
