Abha, September 29, 2023, In a remarkable feat, King Khalid University has significantly advanced its global standing, surging by an impressive 300 positions to secure the 501st spot in the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Moreover, the institution has garnered noteworthy recognition in the International Dimension Rankings, securing the 117th position worldwide and an impressive sixth place in the domestic rankings among the top 200 international universities.
According to Hamid Al-Qarni, Vice President of Post Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, this achievement signifies a major milestone within the university's comprehensive plan aimed at achieving global acclaim. One of the central objectives of this plan is to secure a place among the world's top 200 universities by the year 2030, aligning with the ambitious goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
This significant accomplishment has not only enhanced the university's reputation on both institutional and academic fronts but has also elevated its profile both regionally and internationally.
Dr. Sami Al-Shehri, Director of the International Classification Unit, shed light on the methodology behind the Times Classification of International Universities, which evaluates institutions based on five key areas: education (29.5%), research environment (29%), quality of research (30%), international dimension (7.5%), and industry (4%). Furthermore, the classification incorporates 18 performance indicators that undergo professional scrutiny to ensure a well-rounded assessment of all academic and research facets of universities.
This year's rankings encompassed a diverse array of over 1,900 universities hailing from 120 different countries across the globe. King Khalid University's impressive climb in these rankings underscores its dedication to academic excellence and global recognition.
