Abha, Mar 9, 2024, King Khalid University successfully concluded the "International Conference on Complementary Medicine - Opportunities and Challenges" (ICCM-2024). The conference, organized by the university's College of Pharmacy in collaboration with the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, addressed the regulation of evidence-based herbal medicine practices and advocated for appropriate regulations and legislation. Recommendations also highlighted the importance of implementing the Saudi herbal medicine charter initiative as a significant national effort. Proposals included integrating complementary medicine practices, especially herbal medicine, into academic health programs and establishing specialized programs for graduates in the field. The conference saw global participation from medical companies, institutions, researchers, and experts in complementary medicine, with over 2,000 attendees. The event featured scientific lectures, discussion panels, workshops, scientific posters, and two memoranda of understanding, along with an exhibition with 16 participating entities.
