King Salman Aid Center and UNICEF collaborate to provide SR13,125,000 for earthquake victims

Riyadh, August 24, 2023, In a significant development, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has forged two crucial agreements with UNICEF. These agreements, signed today, aim to extend much-needed support to the victims of the devastating earthquake that has struck Syria. With a total value of SR 13,125,000, these agreements will primarily focus on providing essential water, sanitation, and hygiene services, along with vital food supplies. This collaborative effort between KSrelief and UNICEF holds immense promise for alleviating the suffering of those affected by this tragic natural disaster.

In a momentous event held in Riyadh, a series of agreements were officially signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Bayez, the esteemed Assistant General Supervisor for Operations and Programs at KSrelief, and Eltayeb Adam, the distinguished representative of UNICEF in GCC countries. This significant occasion marks a pivotal step towards fostering collaboration and cooperation between these two esteemed organizations.

In accordance with the initial agreement, the targeted population will receive crucial water, sanitation, and hygiene services that are essential for preserving lives. These services encompass the provision of safe water supplies and the restoration and improvement of water networks that were damaged by the devastating earthquake.

In a significant development, a staggering 15,000 individuals are set to receive a wide-ranging water, hygiene, and sanitation package. This comprehensive initiative encompasses various crucial components, such as the transportation of water via trucks, the removal of sludge, the efficient management of solid waste, the diligent cleaning and maintenance of latrines, and the provision of potable water to a staggering 100,000 people. This ambitious endeavor aims to have a transformative impact on the lives of countless individuals in need. In the second agreement, there is a commitment to address the pressing issue of food provision for those affected by the earthquake. This includes a focus on improving access to nutrition services, ensuring the availability of essential supplies to combat severe malnutrition, and providing crucial micronutrient supplementation for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

In a remarkable display of humanitarian aid, KSrelief has extended its support to victims of the devastating earthquake and the vulnerable population in Syria. This generous initiative is a testament to the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to providing assistance to those in need.
