Turaif, March 30, 2025 – The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority is actively engaged in environmental protection and ecological restoration within the reserve, coinciding with the second anniversary of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI). Launched in 2021 by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Higher Committee for the SGI, the initiative aims to mobilize community efforts toward effective and measurable environmental actions, contributing to an improved quality of life in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
To commemorate the occasion, the authority has introduced field initiatives, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation programs. These efforts have led to the restoration of over 700,000 hectares of land, the planting of three million trees, and the distribution of four tons of seeds, with the support of more than 11,000 volunteers.
The authority has also enforced protective measures to prevent vehicle damage to vegetation, educated communities on the importance of environmental conservation, and promoted sustainable land use to establish safe habitats for wildlife. Additionally, it has disseminated awareness messages to local communities, emphasizing the detrimental effects of logging and the necessity of preserving vegetation.
