King Salman chairs Cabinet session in Riyadh today

Riyadh, February 27, 2024, Today in Riyadh, the Cabinet session was chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. Among the highlights of the session was the briefing on a message received from the president of Tajikistan, alongside the outcomes of two significant meetings between His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the president of Ukraine and the speaker of the Russian State Duma.

The Cabinet also delved into recent dialogues between senior officials from Saudi Arabia and counterparts across the globe, emphasizing the nation's enduring commitment to robust relations founded on cooperation, coordination, and an active engagement in addressing humanitarian and developmental issues.

Following the session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari conveyed to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the Cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia's participation in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The review encompassed highlighting the Kingdom's vision regarding the group's role in addressing global tensions and enhancing multilateral frameworks' effectiveness to meet global commitments.

Moreover, the Cabinet reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for regional and international efforts to prohibit weapons of mass destruction, as affirmed during the nation's participation in the High-Level Conference on Disarmament (CD) at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Cabinet also expressed its commitment to bolstering cooperation to address challenges in outer space and mitigate associated threats.

The Cabinet applauded the outcomes of the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, reaffirming the Kingdom's unwavering support for joint Arab action aimed at fostering security, stability, and prosperity in the region.

On domestic affairs, the Cabinet commended the achievements of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) in augmenting gas and condensate reserves in the unconventional Jafurah Field.

Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed gratitude for the recognition by the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council of Saudi Arabia's milestone achievement of hosting over 100 million tourists in 2023, underscoring the nation's efforts to position itself as a premier global tourism destination.

Various agenda items were reviewed, including those examined by the Shura Council, alongside conclusions put forth by the Economic and Development Affairs Council, the Political and Security Affairs Council, the General Committee of the Cabinet, and the Cabinet's Bureau of Experts.

The Cabinet issued several decisions, including authorizing discussions and signings with Malaysian, Tanzanian, Indonesian, Thai, Chinese, Barbadian, Turkmen, Rwandan, and Emirati counterparts on cooperation agreements spanning energy, sports, environment, health, nuclear and radiation safety, standards, privatization, and public-private partnerships. These decisions reflect Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering collaboration across various sectors and with nations worldwide.
