King Salman chairs Riyadh Cabinet session

Riyadh, February 13, 2024, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, chaired a Cabinet session held today in Riyadh, where various national and international matters were discussed.

During the session, the Cabinet was briefed on recent diplomatic consultations with several brotherly and friendly countries, including messages received from the president of the Republic of the Gambia and the king of Spain, addressed to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and Acting Minister of Media, highlighted in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the Cabinet commended the outcomes of the third meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council. This meeting, co-chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, witnessed the signing of various agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries across various sectors.

The Cabinet also discussed the results of a consultative meeting convened by the Kingdom regarding the ongoing Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip. Emphasizing the imperative of ending the war and achieving an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, the meeting stressed the importance of removing obstacles hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Additionally, steps toward implementing the two-state solution and recognizing the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, were highlighted.

Moreover, the Cabinet reviewed reports on significant international events and exhibitions recently hosted by the Kingdom, notably commending the successful organization of the World Defense Show, which underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to bolstering the military industries sector and fostering international cooperation in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

In addition to these discussions, the Cabinet issued several decisions, including authorizations for ministerial discussions and signings with various international counterparts. Notable among these decisions are authorizations for discussions and signings with Singapore regarding a strategic partnership council, cooperation agreements with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), and a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India.

Furthermore, approvals were granted for memoranda of understanding with Norway to promote direct investment, scientific and educational cooperation with several African countries, and technical cooperation in civil aviation with the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission.

Lastly, the Cabinet approved cooperation agreements in the fields of counter-terrorism and passenger security with the National Counter Terrorism Agency of the Republic of Indonesia and the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain, respectively.
