King Salman relief team detonates 772 mines in Yemen

Aden, September 4, 2023, During the fifth week of August 2023, a team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) working on the Masam project successfully detonated 772 mines spread over many Yemeni governorates. This contains 41 anti-tank mines, 9 anti-personnel mines, 718 unexploded ordnance, and 4 explosives. The Masam project's team in Aden removed 18 anti-tank mines and 188 unexploded munitions from the area. In addition, it detonated two explosive devices in Hays and removed two anti-tank mines in Al Hudaydah, 15 unexploded Ordnances in Al Khawkhah, 13 anti-tank mines, and one unexploded ordnance. In the Al-Madaribah area of Lahij, eight unexploded weapons were also detonated. In Marib, the crew detonated 400 unexploded Ordnances, and in the Usaylan district, seven anti-personnel mines and one anti-tank mine. The team in Taiz was successful in removing 47 unexploded Ordnances from the Mukha district, three anti-tank mines and eight unexploded Ordnances from the Mawza district, five unexploded Ordnances and two explosive devices from the Sabir district, and two anti-personnel mines along with five anti-tank mines and 46 unexploded Ordnances from the Dhubab district.

The Masam Project will have destroyed 5,110 mines by August 2023. A total of 413,743 mines have been disassembled and randomly planted around Yemen since the project's start in June 2018 with the intention of terrorizing and harming defenseless children, women, and elderly people.

The Masam initiative, which is a representation of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), will continue to assist and support the Yemeni people, so they can live decent lives.
