Riyadh, October 27, 2024 — In a notable achievement for Saudi Arabia, King Saud University's theater team earned significant recognition at the Cairo International University Theater Festival, held from October 19 to 25. Competing against Gulf, Arab, and international teams, the theater ensemble from King Saud University was awarded the prestigious title of Best Group Theater Team.
In addition to the team accolade, individual awards were also received by talented members of the university’s team. Student Saud Al-Muqhim garnered the Best Actor Award, celebrated for his standout performance that captivated both the audience and jury. Fellow team member Abdul-Ilah Al-Saikhan was also recognized, winning the Excellence in Performance Award for his role in the acclaimed production Hanana, showcasing his dedication to theatrical arts and remarkable stage presence.
The theater team’s success was led by team head Mohammed Al-Shamrani, who attributed this accomplishment to the hard work and dedication of the entire cast and crew. Al-Shamrani noted that their success followed an intensive period of preparation, involving specialized workshops aimed at refining theatrical skills and several rigorous rehearsals under the expert direction of Ayed Al-Baqmi. This structured preparation enabled the team to deliver a performance of high caliber and creativity that distinguished them on an international platform.
