Riyadh, October 30, 2023, King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (KKESH) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by performing the Middle East's first-ever Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery, involving the transplantation of the delicate inner corneal lining.
Dr. Mohammed Almutlak, the Head of the Eye Bank at KKESH, emphasized the hospital's significant role as a reference center for various corneal transplant procedures.
