Riyadh, November 1, 2024 — In a significant step toward humanitarian support, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has formalized a cooperation agreement with a prominent Syrian civil society organization. This partnership is dedicated to addressing the pressing needs of orphans and economically empowering their families in the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck northern Syria.
The initiative, which aims to uplift the lives of 600 orphans, encompasses a comprehensive support package designed to meet both immediate and long-term needs. Beneficiaries will receive essential school supplies, hygiene kits, and seasonal clothing to ensure their well-being and facilitate their education. In addition to these critical provisions, the project will extend monthly stipends to families, providing a vital financial cushion during these challenging times.
Recognizing the emotional toll of such disasters, the project also prioritizes the mental health of its participants by offering psychosocial support to help children and their caregivers navigate the aftermath of trauma. To further empower families, KSrelief will provide vocational training for 150 caregivers, equipping them with skills in areas such as sewing, livestock farming, and food production. This training aims to foster sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that families can support themselves in the long run.
Moreover, the initiative will supply livestock and professional tools to help families establish and grow their businesses. By promoting self-sufficiency, this project aspires to create lasting change in the lives of the beneficiaries, ultimately benefiting a total of 750 individuals across the regions of Al-Bab, Afrin, and Azaz in Aleppo Governorate.
This collaborative effort underscores Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance through KSrelief, particularly for vulnerable populations such as orphans. By combining immediate relief with sustainable development, the project not only addresses the urgent needs of those affected by the earthquake but also lays the groundwork for future resilience and empowerment within these communities.
