KSrelief and SDRPY launch volunteer medical program in Aden's hospital

Aden, April 29, 2024, Yesterday marked the inauguration of a volunteer medical program at the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden Governorate, a joint initiative led by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). The program, set to run from April to July, encompasses a range of volunteer medical projects across various specialties, aiming to address the humanitarian needs of people from all Yemeni governorates. These projects are supported by skilled medical professionals from Saudi Arabia.

Among the projects included in this program are open-heart surgery and cardiac catheterization, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery for post-burn deformities, and specialized medical clinics. This initiative stems from the hospital's operational project readiness and capabilities, which is part of the 34 development projects and initiatives in the health sector presented by the SDRPY.

The SDRPY has been instrumental in managing the hospital and providing highly qualified medical personnel to serve the Yemeni population. The hospital boasts a substantial infrastructure, covering an area of 20,000 square meters with a capacity of 270 beds, and is equipped with 2,187 medical devices and equipment.

Between January 2023 and April 2024, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital has conducted over 6,695 surgical operations and 2,682 cardiac catheterization procedures. Furthermore, the hospital has accommodated a total of 1,145,578 medical visits, including 387,703 outpatient visits, with 58,634 inpatients in the hospital and the cardiac care center. During this period, 302,784 prescriptions were issued to patients.

This program represents a collaborative effort between KSrelief and SDRPY, showcasing Saudi Arabia's dedication to utilizing government resources to support the Yemeni populace. It aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between these entities through joint relief, humanitarian, volunteer, and development projects in Yemen. The SDRPY has contributed significantly to Yemen's development with 229 projects and initiatives spanning vital sectors such as education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture, fisheries, and capacity building for the Yemeni government and developmental programs.
