Hadhramaut, December 25, 2024 – A volunteer medical team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has successfully concluded its specialized orthopedic care mission in Mukalla, Hadhramaut, Yemen. The mission, which ran from December 14 to 20, 2024, was part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to provide much-needed humanitarian aid and medical services to those affected by conflict and limited access to healthcare in Yemen and other regions around the world.
The dedicated 14-member team, composed of specialists in orthopedic care, treated a total of 152 patients, offering much-needed expertise to individuals suffering from a wide range of orthopedic conditions. During the mission, the medical professionals successfully performed 59 surgeries, addressing both urgent and complex orthopedic issues. In addition to the surgeries, the team provided 68 physiotherapy sessions to help patients recover and improve their mobility, ensuring they received holistic care to promote long-term health.
In addition to direct patient care, the team also organized a workshop on advancements in orthopedic treatment, where medical professionals in the region had the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge of modern practices in orthopedic care. This educational component of the mission underscores KSrelief's commitment not only to immediate medical intervention but also to empowering local healthcare workers through knowledge transfer and capacity-building initiatives.
This mission is part of a broader initiative by KSrelief to provide vital medical support in areas with limited access to healthcare services, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian work.
