Amman, October 9, 2024 — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has successfully delivered vital healthcare services to 2,564 patients at the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan during the fourth week of September 2024. This initiative underscores KSrelief's ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive medical support to vulnerable populations affected by conflict.
Throughout this week, various clinics within the camp reported significant patient engagement. The general medicine clinics received 680 patients, reflecting the ongoing healthcare needs of the refugee population. The internal medicine clinic specifically addressed the concerns of 79 patients suffering from chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, ensuring that those with ongoing health issues received the attention they required.
Children's health was a priority, with pediatric clinics attending to 318 young patients, while the emergency clinic managed 314 cases, highlighting the importance of accessible emergency services in the camp. Additionally, dental care was provided to 109 patients across two dental clinics, reinforcing the importance of oral health in overall well-being.
The women’s health services were also notable, with 220 female patients visiting the camp's two gynecology clinics. Furthermore, specialized clinics addressed a range of other health concerns: the ear, nose, and throat clinic treated 43 patients for sinus, throat, tonsil, and middle ear infections, while the eye clinic saw 80 patients. The cardiology clinic catered to 20 patients, and the diagnostic radiology clinic conducted examinations for 31 individuals.
A significant aspect of the healthcare services included laboratory testing, with a total of 2,117 tests conducted for 275 patients. Diagnostic imaging was also crucial, with 132 X-rays performed for 86 patients. The immunization clinic administered 144 vaccines to 52 individuals, playing a vital role in disease prevention within the camp. Medications for chronic diseases were dispensed to 185 patients, ensuring continuity of care for those managing long-term health conditions.
In addition to direct medical services, the health education department reached 72 beneficiaries, providing crucial information about health and wellness. The pharmacy played a key role in patient care, filling a total of 2,340 medical prescriptions, which underscores the comprehensive nature of the healthcare services provided at Zaatari.
