Makkah, March 23, 2025 – The Saudi Red Crescent Authority's ambulance teams in Makkah Region successfully rescued an Algerian Umrah performer at the Grand Mosque.

After receiving a distress call about a man in his sixties collapsing near a gate in the mosque's outer courtyards, the teams swiftly responded.

Upon arrival, they diagnosed him with cardiac and respiratory arrest and immediately performed CPR using a LUCAS chest compression device and an automated external defibrillator (AED). He was then transported to a medical facility for further treatment and observation.

The rapid response, executed in under two minutes, was made possible by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s proactive deployment of ambulance and volunteer teams as part of its Ramadan preparedness plan in Makkah.
