KSrelief Delivers Support Equipment for Somalis with Special Needs

This project underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to humanitarian efforts, enhancing the capabilities of government agencies in Somalia and fostering independence and dignity for people with disabilities.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in partnership with the UNDP, delivered support equipment to the Somali National Disability Agency as part of the Capacity Development and Empowerment for People with Disabilities Project, benefiting 22,600 individuals in Somalia.

Mogadishu, December 05, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has delivered vital support equipment for people with special needs to the Somali National Disability Agency as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts. This initiative, executed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), falls under the framework of the Capacity Development and Empowerment for People with Disabilities Project in Somalia. The project is expected to benefit 22,600 individuals, providing them with the resources and support necessary to improve their quality of life.


The delivery ceremony was held in Mogadishu, with the chargé d'affaires of the Kingdom's embassy in Somalia, Mohammed Al-Budairi, attending alongside Yazid bin Abdullah Hamoud, the director of the KSrelief branch in Africa. The ceremony was also graced by high-ranking Somali officials, including Minister of Family and Human Rights Development Bashir Mohamed Jama, members of the Council of Ministers, parliamentarians, and various diplomats and dignitaries. This gathering emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative and the shared commitment to improving the lives of those with special needs in Somalia.


The overarching aim of this project is to empower people with disabilities by enhancing their access to education, vocational training, and employment opportunities. By doing so, it seeks to foster greater independence, dignity, and active participation within Somali society. Additionally, the initiative aims to bolster the operational and technical capabilities of government agencies tasked with supporting individuals with special needs, ensuring long-term sustainability and the creation of an inclusive, supportive environment.


This initiative is a clear reflection of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian service. Through KSrelief, Saudi Arabia continues to demonstrate its dedication to improving the lives of the most vulnerable populations globally. This particular project aligns with the Kingdom's broader goal of fostering empowerment, inclusion, and the recognition of people with special needs as valuable contributors to society.
