Port Sudan, November 19, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched a major date distribution project in Port Sudan, aimed at providing essential food aid to families in need across multiple Sudanese states. The event, which was attended by key figures including Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Ali bin Hassan Jafar, Sudanese Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, and acting Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed Othman, marks a significant effort in addressing food insecurity in the region.
The project will deliver 441 tons of dates to 441,250 individuals across Kassala, Gedaref, Red Sea, River Nile, Blue Nile, White Nile, Sennar, and Gezira states. This aid is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader commitment to alleviating hunger and providing support to vulnerable communities in Sudan. Ambassador Jafar emphasized Saudi Arabia’s ongoing dedication to food assistance, expressing gratitude for the partnership with the Sudanese government to ensure that the aid reaches those in need.
Minister Al-Bushra expressed his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its consistent support, acknowledging the Kingdom’s vital role in Sudan during difficult times. Meanwhile, Othman highlighted KSrelief’s crucial contribution to addressing food security challenges amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis, underscoring the relief efforts made possible by Saudi assistance. This initiative is a clear demonstration of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid and supporting global efforts to combat hunger and poverty.
