In a significant move, the Assistant Supervisor General of Operations and Programs at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz, recently signed a cooperation agreement with a civil society organization. The pact aims to drill 15 artesian wells in the Federal Republic of Somalia, providing clean drinking water to around 400,000 individuals.
According to Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Muallem, Director of the Health and Environmental Aid Department at KSrelief, each well will be drilled to a depth of 250 meters and accompanied by a 20-cubic-meter concrete reservoir standing at a height of 5 meters. The comprehensive agreement also encompasses the establishment of truck loading areas, installation of solar energy and power systems, and a 30-horsepower generator in key regions including Sahil, Togdheer, Maroodi Jeex, and Sanaag.
With a total project value of $2,590,000, this initiative reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's broader commitment, channeled through KSrelief, to enhance global access to clean drinking water and support water and environmental sanitation projects in countries facing critical needs.
