Aleppo/Idlib, January 09, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has successfully continued its mobile healthcare initiative, providing vital medical services to earthquake-affected communities in Syria’s Aleppo and Idlib governorates throughout December 2024. This critical project is part of Saudi Arabia's broader humanitarian efforts to address the ongoing needs of those impacted by the devastating earthquakes, which have left thousands of people displaced and in urgent need of medical care.
During the course of the project, KSrelief's mobile healthcare units received a total of 46,184 patients, delivering an impressive 99,247 individual healthcare and community health services. The initiative has been a lifeline for many, especially in the aftermath of the catastrophic tremors that struck the region, leaving local healthcare facilities overwhelmed and unable to meet the surge in demand. KSrelief's mobile units have played a key role in providing accessible and timely healthcare to the affected population, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The mobile healthcare units made regular visits to 25 villages and camps across 18 areas in the Aleppo and Idlib governorates. These regions, severely impacted by the earthquake, have struggled with limited access to basic medical services due to ongoing conflict and the destruction of infrastructure. KSrelief’s intervention has not only filled a critical gap in healthcare provision but also offered a sense of relief to those who have been living in precarious conditions for extended periods.
In addition to providing general healthcare services, the mobile units also catered to individuals with specific needs, including 321 individuals suffering from moderate to severe disabilities. These patients received specialized healthcare services that were tailored to their specific conditions, ensuring that their medical needs were properly addressed. KSrelief’s holistic approach to healthcare has been instrumental in promoting the well-being of both the general population and those with more complex health challenges, underscoring the center’s commitment to inclusivity in its relief efforts.
KSrelief’s mobile healthcare program is a key component of its broader response to the humanitarian crisis in Syria, particularly in areas affected by natural disasters and conflict. In addition to providing immediate medical care, the project aims to support long-term health and wellness by improving access to essential services for displaced populations. The initiative also complements KSrelief’s ongoing efforts in Syria, which include distributing food, shelter, and medical supplies, as well as supporting the rehabilitation of healthcare infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, has been a steadfast supporter of global humanitarian efforts, particularly in regions suffering from the consequences of war, natural disasters, and displacement. The Kingdom’s commitment to alleviating human suffering and providing life-saving assistance continues to make a significant impact, especially in areas where the need for aid is most acute.
As the mobile healthcare project in Aleppo and Idlib continues to offer essential support to earthquake survivors, KSrelief remains dedicated to its mission of providing comprehensive humanitarian relief, working to alleviate suffering, restore dignity, and contribute to the resilience and recovery of affected communities in Syria and beyond.
