Lahj, Yemen, Dec 30, 2023, The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has initiated an empowerment in education activity in the Yemeni governorate of Lahj. The project is designed to train and empower families responsible for orphans in five Yemeni governorates, as part of a broader initiative to re-enroll girls who have dropped out of school in Yemen.
The primary goal of the project is to equip families caring for orphans with various life and professional skills. This is accomplished through the establishment of 14 educational and training courses covering diverse fields such as sewing, embroidery, incense and perfume industry, food industries, as well as courses in technology and photography. The intention is to foster self-reliance and empower these families economically and socially, ultimately contributing to the reintegration of their daughters into the educational process.
The project has already benefited 280 trainees in the governorates of Lahj, Abyan, Marib, Hadhramaut, and Socotra. This initiative is part of a broader series of educational projects implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the education sector in Yemen and improving its overall outcomes. The focus on empowering families and providing practical skills reflects a holistic approach to address the challenges faced by vulnerable communities, particularly in the context of education and economic sustainability.
