KSrelief Launches First Physical Therapy Facility for Syrian Refugees in Jordan's Zaatari Camp

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) inaugurated the first physical-therapy center in Jordan's Zaatari refugee camp to support refugees with special needs and chronic skeletal diseases.

Amman, December 11, 2024 – In a significant step toward improving healthcare services for Syrian refugees, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) officially inaugurated the first-ever physical-therapy center within the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. This new facility is set to play a crucial role in supporting individuals with special needs and those suffering from chronic skeletal diseases, providing them with specialized therapeutic services and pain management.

The physical-therapy center will serve as a hub for comprehensive medical care, offering a variety of services aimed at restoring mobility, alleviating pain, and enhancing the overall quality of life for refugees. The medical team at the center includes a rehabilitation medicine consultant and three specialized physical-therapy professionals, who work together to provide personalized care to the camp's residents. Since the launch of the center, the team has conducted a total of 465 treatment sessions, benefiting 67 patients—both men and women—across various age groups.

Notably, this center holds the distinction of being the first in the Zaatari camp to be licensed by the Jordanian Ministry of Health, allowing it to legally practice physical therapy and offer high-quality, safe medical services. This accreditation underscores the importance of providing trusted medical care within refugee camps, ensuring that displaced individuals have access to necessary health services and receive the attention and treatment they deserve. The center’s opening is a testament to KSrelief’s commitment to improving the well-being of refugees and supporting humanitarian efforts in the region, marking an important milestone in the ongoing relief efforts aimed at addressing the needs of vulnerable populations in Jordan and beyond.

This initiative is part of KSrelief’s broader humanitarian mission, which continues to provide essential healthcare, education, and relief services to displaced individuals, reinforcing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s dedication to supporting the international community in times of crisis.
