Successful Dismantling of Explosives: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's Masam Project removed 808 explosives in Yemen during the first week of December 2024, including 731 unexploded ordnance, 65 anti-tank mines, and 8 explosive devices.

Aden, Yemen, December 09, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), through its Masam Project, successfully dismantled 808 explosives in various regions of Yemen during the first week of December. This operation, a critical part of KSrelief’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of civilians in conflict-affected areas, included the removal of 731 unexploded ordnance (UXO) items, 65 anti-tank mines, four anti-personnel mines, and eight explosive devices.

The Masam Project, which was launched with the goal of clearing Yemen of the dangerous remnants of war, has made significant strides in its mission. Since its inception, a total of 471,842 explosives have been removed from various regions across Yemen. These explosives, which were indiscriminately planted by opposing forces, have posed a severe threat to the safety of innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. By removing these dangerous devices, the Masam Project not only helps to prevent further loss of life but also contributes to restoring stability and enabling the rebuilding of communities.

This latest operation underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to providing vital humanitarian support to Yemen, ensuring a safer environment for all residents, and preventing further suffering caused by the indiscriminate use of landmines and explosives in conflict zones. Through Masam, KSrelief continues its dedicated efforts to clear the land of remnants of war and support the recovery of Yemen’s people and infrastructure.
