Aden, August 30, 2024 – In a notable effort to enhance healthcare and combat measles in Yemen, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) recently completed a comprehensive measles vaccination campaign. This initiative, which ran from April 29 to May 30, targeted several key districts, including Midi and Hayran in Hajjah Governorate, parts of Haradh and Abs, as well as the northwestern Razih district in Saada Governorate.

During the campaign, a dedicated team of 17 health workers administered vaccinations to 15,415 children across the specified districts. This effort was crucial in bolstering the region's ability to manage and prevent measles, a potentially severe disease. The campaign not only focused on delivering essential vaccines but also placed a strong emphasis on educating the local communities about the importance of vaccination.

To support these educational efforts, approximately 2,000 brochures and informative posters were distributed. These materials highlighted the risks associated with measles and underscored the critical role of vaccination in preventing the disease and its severe complications. This outreach was designed to enhance public understanding and encourage vaccination uptake among families.

Additionally, the campaign included a significant component dedicated to identifying and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations. A total of 1,134 pregnant and lactating women, along with 1,030 newborns, were identified in the targeted areas. This data is vital for planning and providing tailored healthcare services for both displaced individuals and host communities.

This measles vaccination campaign is part of KSrelief’s broader commitment to improving healthcare services across Yemen. By addressing diseases and epidemics, KSrelief aims to curb their spread and ensure that the Yemeni population receives the essential care needed for a dignified life. The Kingdom’s continued efforts through KSrelief reflect its dedication to supporting health and well-being in Yemen amidst ongoing challenges.
