Al-Mahra, January 31, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched an impactful initiative aimed at enhancing education in Yemen by distributing school desks and educational materials to literacy and disability centers in Al-Mahra Governorate. This distribution marks the second phase of KSrelief's local capacity development project, which is designed to support the education of students in literacy programs and those with disabilities across the region.
During the distribution ceremony, the First Deputy Governor of Al-Mahra, Mukhtar Al-Jaafari, expressed deep gratitude for the generous support provided by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief. He underscored the significant role that the advanced educational equipment will play in the development of literacy and disability education in the region, providing better learning environments for students and teachers alike.
Khair Duwamah Yaqout, Chairwoman of the Al-Mahra Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, highlighted the importance of the educational tools in improving information delivery and increasing the efficiency of the learning process. She also noted that these tools would empower teachers in fulfilling their crucial roles in educating students with disabilities, ensuring that their needs are met with the appropriate resources.
The project is part of a larger initiative to provide quality and sustainable educational opportunities to underprivileged groups in Yemen. In its first phase, KSrelief has focused its efforts on improving education in the governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut, Al-Dhale, Lahij, Shabwah, and Al-Mahra. The total number of beneficiaries from this phase is expected to reach 9,747 individuals, including 6,527 individuals with disabilities, 2,389 literacy students, and 831 teaching staff across various centers and schools.
KSrelief’s ongoing commitment to addressing educational challenges in Yemen is a part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian efforts to promote social inclusion, support children with disabilities, and foster literacy programs. This project aims to empower marginalized communities by providing them with the tools needed to successfully integrate into society, while ensuring that vulnerable groups have access to the educational resources they need to thrive.
Through such initiatives, KSrelief continues to make a meaningful impact in Yemen, contributing to the development of the education sector and enhancing the quality of life for individuals who have been most affected by the ongoing challenges in the region.
