Hadhramaut, January 29, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continued its impactful support for education in Yemen by distributing essential resources to 10 literacy schools and nine centers for individuals with disabilities in Hadhramaut Governorate. This distribution, which took place on Monday, marks the second phase of a comprehensive initiative aimed at addressing critical gaps in the educational infrastructure for illiterate students and people with disabilities across Yemen.
As part of the support, KSrelief provided a range of essential items, including school seats, educational supplies, computers, and office furniture, designed to enhance the learning environments in both the literacy schools and disability centers. The aim is to equip these institutions with the necessary tools to provide quality education to underserved and vulnerable groups. This initiative not only seeks to improve the immediate learning experience but also to foster long-term educational development in the region.
The significance of this contribution was highlighted by the remarks of Saleh Abboud Al-Omqi, Secretary-General of the Hadhramaut Local Council, who expressed his gratitude for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued support through KSrelief. He emphasized that the advanced equipment provided to the literacy schools and disability centers will significantly improve the quality of education in the governorate, thereby helping to build a brighter future for generations to come.
In addition to this, Dr. Najwa Fadl, the Executive Director of the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Fund, also expressed appreciation for KSrelief’s ongoing efforts. She commended the center for its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of Yemeni society, particularly people with disabilities. Her praise highlighted the transformative role that the resources provided by KSrelief will play in ensuring better opportunities for education and rehabilitation for those with special needs.
The larger scope of the project aims to address the educational needs of various regions in Yemen, with particular focus on the governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut, Dhale, Lahj, Shabwa, and Al-Mahra. A total of 9,747 individuals will benefit from this initiative, including 6,527 individuals with special needs, 2,389 illiterate students, and 831 educational staff members at the targeted centers and schools. The project’s goal is to provide sustainable and high-quality educational opportunities to these vulnerable groups, thereby contributing to the broader development of the country’s education system.
This initiative is part of KSrelief’s ongoing projects to alleviate the educational challenges facing Yemen, particularly in its efforts to support juvenile literacy and provide care for children with disabilities. By enhancing educational capacity in critical sectors and providing essential resources, KSrelief plays a pivotal role in helping Yemeni communities overcome the barriers to education that have arisen due to years of conflict and instability.
Through its continued support, KSrelief ensures that education remains a cornerstone of Yemen’s recovery and development efforts. By investing in the future of young people and individuals with disabilities, Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, is empowering the next generation of Yemenis to overcome adversity, build a better future, and contribute meaningfully to the reconstruction of their nation.
