Aden, January 25, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has continued its significant support for Yemen’s educational sector by distributing essential supplies to aid both people with disabilities and illiterate students across multiple governorates. This effort, part of the second phase of an ongoing project, includes the distribution of 1,247 double desks, 560 single desks, 56 wheelchairs, computers, and office supplies. These resources will be allocated to 35 centers for people with disabilities and 26 adult education schools.
The initiative is a direct response to the urgent educational needs in Yemen, targeting vulnerable populations. The project aims to empower 9,747 individuals across the governorates of Aden, Hadramout, Dhale, Lahij, Shabwa, and Al-Mahra. Of these, 6,527 are people with disabilities, while 2,389 are illiterate students, and 831 are educational staff. These measures are critical in improving local capacities for education and ensuring access to quality, inclusive education for marginalized groups.
The Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Saleh Mahmoud, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support provided by KSrelief, noting that this project plays a pivotal role in addressing the most vulnerable groups in Yemen. It also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals for 2025, focusing on accessibility, education, and capacity building. This initiative is a part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to support educational institutions in Yemen, particularly in enhancing the quality of education for children with disabilities and combatting illiteracy. Through these continuous projects, KSrelief continues to support Yemen’s long-term recovery and development.
