KSrelief responds to ICRC's appeal, signs cooperation memo for Gaza aid

Cairo, November 23, 2023, In response to the urgent humanitarian appeal from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for relief aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) took decisive action by signing a memorandum of cooperation with the ICRC today.


The signing ceremony, held in Cairo, brought together Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, the Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, and Alfonso Verdu Pérez, the Head of ICRC Delegation in Egypt.


The memorandum delineates a series of impactful initiatives aimed at addressing critical needs in Gaza. These initiatives include support for hospitals, deployment of medical teams, care for the wounded and burn victims, water purification projects, facilitation of access to clean drinking water, and awareness campaigns regarding the dangers of explosive remnants of war. The total value of these humanitarian initiatives amounts to SAR37.5 million.


This collaborative agreement is an integral part of the Kingdom's ongoing humanitarian projects, executed through KSrelief, specifically focusing on providing essential relief to the Palestinian people. It underscores the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to solidarity with brotherly and friendly nations during crises and adversity. The signing of this memorandum reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to leveraging its resources and expertise to make a meaningful impact in alleviating the suffering of those affected by humanitarian challenges.
