Aden, October 19, 2024 — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) continues its crucial efforts to enhance safety and stability in Yemen through the Masam Project, which is dedicated to clearing mines from conflict-affected areas. In the second week of October 2024 alone, the project successfully dismantled a total of 630 mines across various regions. This includes the removal of three anti-personnel mines, 28 anti-tank mines, one explosive device, and 598 pieces of unexploded ordnance.
Since its inception, the Masam Project has made significant strides in ensuring the safety of Yemeni communities, clearing a remarkable 465,882 mines. These efforts play a vital role in safeguarding lives and facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their homes, thereby contributing to the broader goal of restoring peace and stability in the region.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains unwavering in its commitment to eradicating the threat posed by landmines in Yemen, which have caused devastating injuries and fatalities among innocent civilians. The presence of these mines not only endangers lives but also hampers humanitarian efforts and development initiatives in the country. By prioritizing mine clearance, KSrelief aims to mitigate these risks and foster an environment conducive to recovery and rebuilding.
The Masam Project exemplifies the Kingdom’s dedication to humanitarian assistance and its proactive approach to addressing the aftermath of conflict. Through meticulous mine-clearing operations, KSrelief is making significant contributions to the safety and well-being of Yemeni citizens, ensuring that they can live free from the fear of hidden explosives.
As the project progresses, KSrelief continues to collaborate with local and international partners to enhance its impact and expand its reach. By investing in mine clearance, Saudi Arabia is not only addressing immediate humanitarian needs but also laying the groundwork for a safer and more prosperous future for the people of Yemen.
