KSrelief Signs Contract for Water and Sanitation Project's Seventh Phase in Hajjah, Yemen

Water Supply and Sanitation Project: KSrelief signed a cooperation agreement to implement its seventh water supply and sanitation project in Yemen’s Hajjah Governorate, benefiting 30,422 people with a funding of US$1.102 million.

Riyadh, December 31, 2024 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a significant cooperation agreement with a prominent civil society organization to launch the seventh phase of its water supply and sanitation project in Yemen’s Hajjah Governorate. This initiative, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in Yemen, is set to provide clean and sustainable water access to 30,422 people across the region. The total funding for this crucial project amounts to US$1.102 million

The agreement was formally signed at KSrelief’s headquarters in Riyadh by Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz, Assistant Supervisor General of Operations and Programs at KSrelief, and representatives of the civil society organization. This marks another important step in KSrelief’s commitment to improving living conditions in Yemen, where access to clean water remains a critical issue due to the ongoing conflict and damaged infrastructure.

The project will focus on several key interventions aimed at improving water access and sanitation in the region. Under this phase of the initiative, the agreement includes the drilling and rehabilitation of solar-powered wells, which will provide a sustainable and renewable water source for the communities in need. The project will also involve the installation of pumping and liquefaction networks to enhance water delivery systems, as well as the construction and restoration of collection and distribution tanks that will help store and manage water supplies more effectively.

Additionally, the agreement includes the installation of drinking water desalination plants to address the scarcity of fresh water and provide clean, potable water to the local population. The project will also ensure the transportation and distribution of water by truck, reaching areas where infrastructure may be particularly damaged or inaccessible.

This comprehensive approach is designed to address both immediate and long-term water and sanitation needs in Hajjah Governorate, which has been severely affected by the ongoing conflict in Yemen. By focusing on solar-powered technologies and sustainable infrastructure, KSrelief aims to ensure that these water solutions remain operational and effective for years to come, even in the face of challenging conditions.

The water supply and sanitation project is part of KSrelief’s broader humanitarian mission to alleviate suffering and improve living conditions for the people of Yemen. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, continues to play a pivotal role in providing life-saving assistance, particularly in areas where basic services like water and healthcare are limited. This initiative will not only provide immediate relief to thousands of families but will also contribute to the rebuilding of essential infrastructure, promoting health and well-being in one of the most crisis-affected regions in the world.
