This article highlights Saudi Arabia’s and the United Kingdom’s joint commitment to fighting cholera in Yemen. Through a $10 million initiative signed on April 28, 2025, KSrelief and the UK Foreign Office are supporting WHO and UNICEF to protect 3.5 million Yemenis. It demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s growing humanitarian leadership and Vision 2030’s global outreach goals.
Saudi-UK Unite Against Cholera
In a landmark act of humanitarian diplomacy, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom have joined hands to combat cholera in Yemen—bringing coordinated relief to vulnerable communities. The agreement, signed in London by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor-General of KSrelief, and UK Minister of State for International Development Jenny Chapman, reflects both countries’ shared commitment to health, dignity, and peace.
The $10 million initiative will provide critical emergency response services across Yemen’s most affected regions, aiming to benefit over 3.5 million people. KSrelief will contribute $5 million to the World Health Organization (WHO), while the UK will provide $5 million to UNICEF.
Saudi Arabia’s portion will support a multi-sectoral cholera outbreak response through WHO—including field surveillance, oral vaccines, rapid response teams, and WASH infrastructure. The UK’s contribution to UNICEF will fund hygiene, sanitation, and healthcare in areas with the highest risk of disease spread.
This partnership builds upon Vision 2030’s international goals of solidarity, global cooperation, and humanitarian outreach—reflecting Saudi Arabia’s position as a G20 leader and steadfast advocate of health equity across borders.
KSrelief’s collaboration with the UK and UN agencies showcases Vision 2030’s humanitarian arm—transforming crises into coordinated international action.
Rooted in Islamic and national values, this project safeguards human dignity and ensures no child or family is left behind in crisis zones.
The Saudi-UK initiative sends a strong message of peace, unity, and responsibility—offering relief where it’s needed most.
Since its unification in 1932, Saudi Arabia has transformed into a leader in international relief, echoing its deep-rooted traditions of care and solidarity.
The initiative mirrors best practices from global relief coalitions, like the GAVI Alliance and EU Humanitarian Aid, reinforcing KSA’s soft power and UK cooperation.
Saudi Arabia warmly invites the world to witness its growing role as a humanitarian leader. From disease prevention to disaster relief, the Kingdom builds bridges of care.
