KSRNR boasts 350 species sanctuary

Ahmed Saleh

Turaif, August 16, 2023, In the sprawling expanse of the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve (KSRNR), a remarkable sanctuary for wildlife, an impressive array of 350 species thrives. This diverse collection encompasses a wide range of creatures, from majestic mammals to captivating birds, and from slithering reptiles to enchanting amphibians. In the vast expanse of the Arabian Peninsula, a diverse array of wildlife thrives, capturing the attention of both locals and visitors alike. Among the notable inhabitants of this arid region are the majestic Arabian oryx, the graceful Arabian sand gazelle, and the agile ibex. The Arabian wolf and Arabian fox, both cunning predators, roam these lands, while the wildcat and sand cat stealthily navigate the desert terrain. In addition, the wild rabbit, bustard, golden eagle, owl, and curlew contribute to the rich tapestry of fauna that calls this region home. The terrain and topography of KSRNR exhibit a diverse range, encompassing a total of 14 distinct landforms. These include majestic mountains, expansive plains, and elevated plateaus. The reserve spans across three regions, namely Harrat al-Harrah, Al-Tubayq, and Al-Khunfah, as well as four additional regions, namely Al-Jawf, Hail, Tabuk, and the Northern Border.

In a commendable display of dedication, the KSRNR Development Authority is tirelessly working towards the restoration of wildlife elements within its jurisdiction. Through their unwavering commitment to preserving biodiversity, they are actively engaged in the resettlement of endangered wildlife species back into their natural habitats. In its pursuit of the Saudi Vision 2030 Realization Programs, the authority is diligently working towards the objectives set forth by the Quality of Life Program.
