Kuwait, January 27, 2025 – The State of Kuwait has strongly condemned the recent attack on a Saudi hospital in El-Fasher city, Sudan, which resulted in numerous casualties. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday, expressing deep concern over the tragic incident and reiterating the importance of protecting civilians and healthcare facilities in conflict zones.
The Ministry emphasized that international law and international humanitarian law must be upheld, especially in the context of safeguarding vital institutions such as hospitals and centers that serve essential humanitarian needs. Kuwait’s statement called for an immediate cessation of such attacks, underscoring the need for accountability and respect for international norms.
Further, the Ministry highlighted the urgency of implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 2736, which was passed in June 2024. The resolution calls for the lifting of the siege on El-Fasher city, the protection of civilians, the de-escalation of hostilities, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid access to the region.
In addition to condemning the attack, the Kuwaiti Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with the people of Sudan. The Ministry also conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the assault.
