Lebanon’s Prime Minister commends Saudi Arabia’s role in border negotiations with Syria.

MAKKAH, March 31, 2025 — Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for facilitating talks between Beirut and Damascus, emphasizing the Kingdom’s efforts in addressing unresolved issues with Syria.
Speaking after a meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Makkah on Sunday, Salam noted Saudi Arabia's active role in resolving pending matters with Syria and reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to asserting control over its entire territory.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, and efforts to foster stability.
Salam praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership in advancing Lebanese-Syrian border demarcation, underscoring his government's commitment to financial and institutional reforms.
The meeting followed a significant session hosted by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, which brought together Syrian and Lebanese defense officials to enhance security coordination, exchange intelligence, and establish legal and technical committees to manage border issues.
The two sides signed an agreement highlighting the strategic importance of border demarcation and agreed to a follow-up meeting in Saudi Arabia soon.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, urging the international community and influential actors to support Lebanon’s peace efforts and end regional conflicts.
