Lotus Emira hyper-GT wins Gold for Green Car of the Year

The all-new Lotus Emira hyper-GT has secured the Gold Award for Green Car of the Year at the 2023 Grand Prix Auto Moto in France. The panel of judges, comprised of Auto Moto magazine's editorial team, recognized the Emira as "the best decarbonized car of the year." Criteria for evaluation included purchase and ownership costs, practicality, and driving pleasure. The prestigious award was presented to Martin Millot, Marketing Department Head of Lotus France, during a ceremony in Paris in October.

Distinguished as the first Lotus model specifically developed as an all-electric vehicle, the Emira hyper-GT combines 75 years of heritage with intelligent performance. Powering the Emira is the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, serving as an in-vehicle supercomputer that provides data center-class processing power. The vehicle employs dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) to process data from 34 state-of-the-art surround sensors up to 30 times a second, ensuring 360-degree perception with no blind spots.

Equipped with four deployable LiDARs, 18 radars, seven 8 mp cameras, and five 2 mp cameras, the Emira scans for obstacles at a radius of up to 200 meters around the car, in every direction and even in low light or inclement weather. The processing power, derived from two NVIDIA SoCs, delivers 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of compute in a compact form factor, measuring just 3mm thick.

Built on Lotus' innovative and versatile Electric Premium Architecture (EPA), which also underpins the Eletre hyper-SUV, the Emira hyper-GT is designed for drivers, incorporating advanced aerodynamic technologies, electronically controlled air suspension, and a suite of intelligent features powered by the dual NVIDIA DRIVE Orin configuration. The vehicle aims to provide a safe, secure, and thrilling driving experience while being future-proofed for evolving capabilities through over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Lotus plans to begin production of the Emira in 2024, and further details regarding market availability and pricing will be announced at a later date. The Gold Award at the Grand Prix Auto Moto underscores the Emira's exceptional attributes as a high-performance, intelligent, and environmentally conscious electric vehicle.
