Madinah Dates Season Exhibition Starts

Madinah, October 4, 2024—The Madinah Dates Season exhibition for this year officially commenced yesterday, organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in partnership with the National Center for Palms and Dates, along with the Madinah Chamber of Commerce. This highly anticipated event, running for 14 days, is being held near the historic Quba Mosque and offers a unique blend of cultural, agricultural, and economic activities aimed at promoting the region’s date industry and its vital role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s food security strategies.

The exhibition features an impressive display of products from over 29,000 farms in the Madinah region, showcasing the abundance and quality of local agricultural production. The event highlights the growing importance of the date palm industry in the Kingdom's broader efforts to strengthen food security, while also promoting the region’s agricultural innovations. A range of side events, including dialogues, workshops, and demonstrations, will provide attendees with valuable insights into the latest trends and practices in date cultivation and processing.

One of the most exciting features of this year’s exhibition is an interactive virtual reality (VR) experience where farmers and visitors can engage in a simulated date harvesting process. This innovative activity aims to raise environmental and agricultural awareness, offering a unique way to connect people with the importance of sustainable farming practices.

The exhibition also includes over 50 sales outlets, offering visitors a chance to purchase a wide variety of date-related products, from fresh yields to artisanal creations. A dedicated tasting and cooking section will allow attendees to sample dishes prepared with dates, showcasing the versatility of this staple crop in Saudi cuisine. Additionally, local families involved in cottage industries have been invited to participate, further emphasizing the event’s community focus and its role in supporting small-scale entrepreneurs.

Both public and private sector entities are present at the exhibition, presenting various agricultural initiatives, financing opportunities, and logistical services for investors. The event serves as a valuable platform for regional investors to explore opportunities in the date palm industry and related sectors, with the goal of fostering economic growth and innovation in Madinah’s agricultural landscape.
