AlUla, February 18, 2024, Formerly a girls' school in AlUla, Madrasat Addeera has undergone a remarkable transformation into a vibrant arts and design center. Offering weekly workshops, the center equips locals with skills in various traditional art forms, including stone carving, embroidery, pottery, ceramics, jewelry making, and wickerwork.
These workshops serve as a catalyst for preserving traditional crafts and showcasing the region's rich heritage. The handcrafted products crafted by trainees are made available for sale at a boutique within the Old Town Market, where tourists eagerly purchase them as keepsakes.
Looking ahead, Madrasat Addeera plans to introduce an artist residency program, establish a boutique for showcasing products, and open a café. This evolution aligns with the vision of the Royal Commission for AlUla, which assumed control of Madrasat Addeera in 2019. Their objective is to transform the center into a cultural, educational, and creative hub, leveraging AlUla's diverse elements to produce high-quality creative goods.
