Riyadh, March 22, 2025 – For the first time, the Kingdom will participate in the 24th edition of the Milan Triennale, taking place from May 13 to November 9 in Italy. The Kingdom’s pavilion, titled “Maghras: a Farm for Experimentation,” focuses on the Al-Ahsa Oasis and showcases the significant changes taking place in its rural agricultural landscape.
Al-Ahsa, with its rich history, is experiencing rapid transformations amidst global urban and environmental challenges. The pavilion highlights the intersection of agricultural cultural heritage, traditional practices, and community narratives against the backdrop of these evolving changes.
Led by the Ministry of Culture, the Maghras pavilion features a farm and community space where various activities and discussions come together. The project, which draws on extensive research, offers a range of programs, initiatives, and artistic experiences to engage different societal groups. Local artists, architects, researchers, residents, as well as farming and artisan communities, contributed to the project, which includes artistic performances, field discussions, and workshops.
The research explores the profound connections between culture and agriculture, symbolized by the concept of Maghras—a traditional land measurement unit defined by four surrounding palm trees.
